1st Birthday
James turned one on Nov. 16th. He didn't get a huge party like his older brother. I really didn't think I'd be the kind of Mom that does everything for the first child and then nothing for the rest. So I feel like I need to defend myself with all my excuses. Well, it's 6 days before Thanksgiving and I figured that it's a bit redundant to get the family all together for a celebration twice in one week. We have 4 birthdays in my family in November and it's just easier to celebrate them all together. We DID sing to James on his birthday and he got to have some carrot cake. He just ate the frosting. I took a few pictures to prove we celebrated so that when he is old enough to see that his brother got a party, he won't feel too left out.
Happy Birthday James!

Circus
We were given last minute free tickets to the Circus at Arco Arena. We went on Saturday and it was great. It was our nephew's birthday so we brought him as well. It is pretty amazing what they can train the animals to do. It was a 2 hr show and the kids loved it. This was just one event in our busy schedule this past weekend.

Empty Pockets
I found lots of little treasures in Caleb's pockets before doing his laundry today. I found a popsicle stick, acorn, two Cherrios that looked like they had been sucked on prior to entering the pocket and had lint stuck in their centers, a bee bee, and a light saber (not life size of course). Quite a treasure collection, wouldn't you say?
Morning Routine
We're starting to get used to our new morning routine before school. We have to wake Caleb up around 7:00am, feed him breakfast, get dressed, etc. Today when I was trying to convince him to let me put product in his hair (which he hates), he said he can tell if he's hansome by laughing in the mirror. So after every pass through his hair with product he would turn and laugh in the mirror. Satisfied he said, "yup, handsome." I agreed.

Kindergarten
Today was Caleb's first day of Kindergarten. He was very excited and not hesitant what so ever. The bell rang and he went to line up with his class on the blacktop. All the classes line up together and the whole school says the Flag salute together. After the older kids were dismissed, the kindergarteners lined up at the wall for pictures. Some of the kids were pretty upset but Caleb was great. After a few pictures, we said goodbye as the class took their first field trip to the bathroom!! I watched Caleb walking back to his classroom after their potty break and it looked like he was wiping a few tears out of his eyes. He must have realized that we were gone and he didn't know anyone. We went home to an unusually quiet house. The time went quickly and we were back in the car to go pick him up. He came walking out with a big smile and yelled "mommy" when he saw me coming. He was wearing a birthday crown with his name on it. He got to bring cupcakes since his birthday was yesterday. He had a great first day.

Prayer
This is how Caleb prayed last night at dinner:
"Dear Jesus, thank you for this day. Thank you for this food, please bless it to our bodies. Please provide for our sins and forgive us when we give our sins to other people. And please help our bodies to not feel bad like we ate too much. Amen."

Birth of a Blog
I decided to embark on a bloggers journey. Mostly because I know Kevin will read it. I've got some learning to do in order to make it exciting but for now....it's a start.
